"Texas Wine Buying Guide" to be published online

We have had an especially hard time collecting all the wine information from the wineries. Because we do not wish to print an incomplete Buying Guide, but still want to distribute the information we have collected, we have decided to publish this information here at our website.

We expect to upload all the information we have within a few weeks. Stay tuned.

"The Wine Bat Texas Wine Buying Guide"

A new buying and travel guide provides a thorough look at the state's world-class wine industry.

AUSTIN, TEXAS - After centuries of viticultural heritage, Texas wines are now recognized as world-class. The state's wine industry is growing and attracting more qualified grape-growers and winemakers from all over the world, while it's also producing exceptionally talented homegrown winemaking professionals. There are more than 3,700 acres of grapes being grown and processed at more than 150 commercial wineries, which produce about 2 million gallons of wine per year. With those numbers, it's no wonder that Texas now ranks as the fifth-largest wine producing state in the country.

The Wine Bat Texas Wine Buying Guide is a new publication providing information on nearly 1,000 wines currently for sale by the state's wineries. The guide includes concise, easy-to-read listings with vintage and bottling dates, prices, winemaker's comments and objective tasting notes compiled from the Wine Bat tasting panel.

In addition to covering table wines, The Wine Bat Texas Wine Buying Guide also recognizes the state's long tradition of producing specialty wines. It includes information on fruit wines, mead, fortified wines and other categories.

Divided by region, The Wine Bat Texas Wine Buying Guide also provides driving directions and maps for tourists and in-state visitors alike to get out and experience firsthand the state's exciting viticulture-from the wineries of the East Texas Piney Woods to the vineyards of the West Texas High Plains to the numerous wine trails of the Hill Country.

This is a tremendous undertaking and a fantastic publication for Texas wine lovers. It is also as an invaluable resource for restaurants, wine stores, sommeliers, wineries, distributors, and retailers throughout the state.

The Wine Bat Texas Wine Buying Guide will be published online in March 2009. For more information, please contact Damon Young: 512-444-5400/512-961-6151.
